Australian votes to same-sex marriage

Celebrations erupted across Australia after a two-month national postal survey was "massively" in favor of legalizing same-sex marriage.

The results released Wednesday by the Australian Bureau of Statistics revealed that 61% of the population voted for same-sex marriage, against 38% of voters.

More than 12.7 million people across the country, or 79.5% of the population, participated in the survey and all states and territories obtained a majority "yes".
